Diploma—The Conservation & Restoration of Antique Furniture

About Us

Like all skilled craftsmen, Clifford Garrett works to the very highest of standards. He was trained by the renowned conservator-restorer Bruce Luckhurst and his partner Jane Thomas. With over 50 years of experience as antique furniture restorers, as well as running a full-time conservation/restoration business, Bruce and Jane also run an academy dedicated to the training of future conservator-restorers.

Clifford spent a period of two years training with Bruce; first through a series of short courses at his BAFRA approved (British Antique Furniture Restorers Association) Little Surrenden Workshops, and then the highly regarded full-time, intensive, Conservation & Restoration course. Clifford was particularly pleased to have been invited to apply for a place on this course as it represented the very best training available anywhere in the United Kingdom, being one of only a handful of establishments trusted by BAFRA and BADA to provide such training. Competition for places on this course is high.

Clifford also managed to impress the trustees of the Carpenters Company who awarded him a small bursary providing some financial support while undergoing the intensive training period.

In 2007, Clifford served as part of a planning group tasked with the re-structuring of the BAFRA membership organization.
